As per the ICF, coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
In my own words, coaching is a partnership that puts you in the spotlight. It will help you build awareness and acknowledge your potential and find ways to take responsibility and maximize your performance. My role is to guide, encourage, and challenge you to be the best version of yourself.
In Bill Gates’ words, “every one needs a coach. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a basketball player, a tennis player, a gymnast or a bridge player.” And his words couldn’t have been put in a better way. As humans, we are all strategic thinkers who make plans and want to see our goals materialize. Working with a coach can help manifest these plans and keep you on track.
To choose a coach, reflect about the reasons behind why you think you want to hire a coach. Ask yourself this: what area(s) of your life do you want to focus on and what would you need from a coach? A suitable coach is one who is experienced in working with clients in your particular area of interest. The best coach for you is one that makes you feel comfortable and can play the different roles required to help you succeed. Chemistry between the coach and the coachee is key! Most coaches offer a free-of-charge discovery call. After you identify an experienced coach in your area, meet with several potential coaches and see who you feel most comfortable with. Go with your gut instinct but take your mind with you!
Yes, I do. I tailor my approach and pricing depending on each person’s needs. I would love to get to know you better. Book a discovery session with me so that we could get to know each other a bit more and talk about this in more detail.
Coaching focuses on identifying future goals and working towards achieving them. Therapy tends to have a past and present focus. A therapist is a healthcare professional who works with clients or patients over a period of time to resolve problems like anxiety, trauma, and self –destructive habits. Coaching focuses on taking the client’s present as the baseline and focuses on improving performance levels to achieve a goal that exists in the future. In coaching, I (as the coach) focus on facilitating the discussion for the coachee to reflect and explore options and answers. Finally, a mentor typically passes on knowledge and advice to the person etc.
